There’s a hedge prayer that’s too late: Based on this article in the New Yorker Magazine (you can also click the image for the story – but it could be behind a paywall), the current administration’s decision to let Elon Musk run roughshod over the budget for USAID, all while granting obscene tax breaks to the richest 1% of Americans, the following quote should stop you in your tracks:
“As of November 5th, it estimated that U.S.A.I.D.’s dismantling has already caused the deaths of six hundred thousand people, two-thirds of them children. The toll is appalling and will continue to grow. But these losses will be harder to see than those of war.”
Stop and think about that for a moment: Elon Musk’s little dance with the blinged out chainsaw, Marco Rubio taking his marching orders straight from Trump’s mouth, and the orange sociopath-in-chief himself apparently not giving a damn about anyone or anything that doesn’t have a profit motive for himself… this abortion they call “governing” has ended the lives of almost as many people as died in our Civil War! SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND HUMAN BEINGS – most of them children, have already died because the current regime in the White House doesn’t give a damn about anyone or anything beyond themselves.
How do we pray a hedge prayer of protection for those who have already died? How do we ask for protection and blessing with their blood on the hands of Donald Trump and Elon Musk? It’s too late for them; that’s a prayer that’s essentially useless.
Perhaps the prayer the Roman Catholics use is the only one left for these children of God: Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of these departed – killed by the callous and evil shenanigans of these bastards in Donald Trump’s despicable regime – through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
