Who we Are

Currently Hedgeprayer.org is two people:

Rev. Rodger Sellers is a retired Presbyterian minister who lives in Davidson, North Carolina.  He’s been in ministry of one form or another since 1977, and pastored both large and small churches from 1989 to this past year, when he was granted honorable retirement by The Presbytery of Charlotte of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  He has long advocated for the Internet as a ministry tool and spent over ten years professionally developing WordPress websites.  Despite the “no filters” nature of the web, when used properly and responsibly, it can add a multiplication factor to any ministry effort:  Thus Hedge Prayer – a collection of prayers, devotions, thoughts and reflections will be live with new posts at least 3 or 4 times per week.  (It certainly doesn’t take much time with a newspaper or RSS feed of national or world news to have reasons for new and succinct hedge prayers.)  In fact, the concept of “Hedge Prayer” is an outgrowth of Rodger’s thoughts that our culture, nation, and world are very much currently in need of “hedges” like Job chapter 1 and Hosea chapter 2 reference.  He and a small group of people have committed to offering “hedge prayers” every single day from now until 2028.

Phil Parsons, Esq., is a semi-retired attorney who lives in Cookeville, Tennessee.  Phil has long combined the legal profession with ministry, working for Young Life as Cookeville Area Director for many years.  Phil’s passion for ministry shows in the way he devotes hours of time and copious skills in writing devotionals for anyone wanting an honest journey of faith to grow and flourish in.  This website, along with the thoughts,  prayers, and devotions offered, is an outgrowth of Phil’s efforts over the past several years, writing devotions for Advent, Lent, even the so-called “Ordinary Time” (that really isn’t the least bit ordinary).  In a very real sense, this idea is his brain child that is growing and morphing into an online offering for this year.
