This article (you can also click the image below) gives the backstory for today’s hedge prayer of protection for all the military families living in between the patriotic talk of how wonderful they are and how our nation is so grateful for their service… and the reality that while a loved one serves in uniform, their families are being “used as pawns” by politicians who apparently don’t give a rat’s ass about their well being.
Gracious and loving God, we ask for your hedge of protection around so many military families who are dealing with anxiety and uncertainty during this government shut down. Not only are they sharing their loved one in service to our county, but they are facing bills without the resources to pay them, needing groceries with no way to obtain them beyond local food pantries and assistance, and have become convinced the nation their husbands and wives serve doesn’t care; that “they aren’t being thought of at all.”
Protect them Lord. Provide what their government will not. Place your hedge around them and their loved ones and keep them – body AND soul – in hope for the future.
